Exercise Description and Instruction:

This version of the Bent Over Row uses a supinated (palms facing up/away) grip to put more emphasis on your biceps. The compound exercise works your lat and upper back muscles as well as your biceps and shoulders and allows you to pile on the weight.

In doing so, this arm and upper back exercise earned a spot on our Best Bicep Exercises list.

To Perform This Exercise:

  1. Keeping your knees bent and your back straight, grasp the barbell with a supinated (palms facing up/out) reverse or underhand grip.

  2. Slowly pull the barbell to your abs while keeping your back straight and your elbows tucked in to your sides.

  3. Pause at the top of the exercise then lower the barbell in a controlled manner.

Tips:

  1. Keep your back straight when you do this exercise. If your back starts to round, just bend your knees a little more to keep it straight.

  2. Keep your feet firmly planted on the floor throughout the exercise.

  3. Complete each repetition in a slow and controlled manner focusing on form, not weight.
